Drawing Editor Font Arial - Extended Print is another Font, why?

I switched some different options at the Extended Setup Dialog, I tried different things, but without required result.

 

I just want at the PDF-print, that my Text (Font: Arial) which is placed on my sheet in my 'drawing.mdf', also in the PDF is like Arial!

 

In picture one (~b1~) you can see some of my Text on the sheet (Properties >> Arial), and in picture two (~b2~) you can see, that in PDF this is no longer Arial. But I expect the same Font, as I'd print a Microsoft Word Document with Arial Font- you know? In last picture (b3~) is a sample Arial Font-Pdf partial view, from within a Word Documents -Pdf -result. That's what I expect.

Can traces defined as diff pairs after routing "link" to one another as do diff pairs defined before routing?

Can traces defined as diff pairs after routing "link" to one another as do diff pairs defined before routing?

I roughed-in several traces and afterward defined them as diff pairs in CES. However they do not move together (maintain a defined spacing) when pushing/pulling as do diff pairs defined before routing.

Do I need to reroute the traces?

How to locate and restore original size of scaled symbols?

If a symbol is added to a schematic the user has the option to scale the symbol.  This keeps the symbol origin on grid, but shifts everything else, including the pins, to an off grid location making for sloppy editing and inconsistent documentation.  If I replace the symbol with one from our current library, the scale factor is retained and the replaced symbol is also scaled.  I would like to be able to A- identify other than visually which parts are scaled (based on having to replace them one at a time) and/or change ALL the scaled components on a schematic back to their original size.  Mentor has a nice "Reposition Properties" and "Reset Text Properties" option for their symbols but nothing about "Reset Size". 

 

Mentor Support says they would be happy to help me fix an issue with their software by writing a script if I want to pay them for it but since we already pay over $15,000 a year in support, I don't think so.

 

 

Any ideas?

Reuseable block reference designator after re-sequencing.

Hi all,

 

I am using Mentor graphics EE7.9.4.

I used physical reusable block from central library in my design.

I did re-numbering reference designator and back annotation. After back annotation i searched one reference designator (which is already availed in block) in schematic, it shows found 3 matches.

when i trace that i noticed that block schematic sheets shown twice.

Is it correct?

Please find the attachment and clarify me.

In 9.x Linesim, The VRM Location always Be Totally Changed in Powerscope

VRM location is totally different between what you put on the cavas and what be displayed in the Powerscope. The symptom is found in 9.0, 9.1 and Beta 9.2.  I have asked @Steve about  this strange symptom and not get anwser yet after one week passed, so I have to log it on the supportnet(2668581723).

DXF to Board Outline in Vx

How to create a Board Outline from a DXF in Xpedition 9.5 was not a big of a deal.

Now I tryed to do it in the new VX Releas and  after 45 min i gave up i couled not do it.

Cannot run DMS Desktop on IE 8; Unable to launch.

Hello,

 

So, a problem has emerged where DMS Desktop will not run on IE8 or IE10 due to it not supporting Java 7, yet it is necessary for some activities.

 

I have installed Java 6, and I have attempted to switch to Java 6 using the Java control panel.  However, even though I do that, it is still showing me an "Unable to Launch" error although it is now recognizing and attempting to invoke Java 6.  

 

I clicked the more details button and I saw the following in the exceptions tab:

how to find the version information(including update name) of ExpeditionPCB from automation? 

I only find the major version, such as 2007.11.0, 2007.12.0. But I also want to get more, which looks like update 5, update 14.

Controlling the Display Setting with automation

Hello all,

 

I want to control the DisplayControl setting by means of automation.

The following snippet will turn of the visibility  of the User Draft Layers Object but does not change the state of the underlying layers

 

Dim DisplayControlObj

Dim GlobalDisplayControlObj

   

set DisplayControlObj = pcbDoc.ActiveView.DisplayControl

set GlobalDisplayControlObj = DisplayControlObj.Global

   

DisplayControlObj.Option( "Option.UserDraftLayers.Enabled" )    = epcbGraphicsItemStateOffEnabled

 

 

 

 

As soon as you turn on an individual layer  with

 

DisplayControlObj.Global.Color( "User.PCA-003" )    = application.Utility.NewColorPattern( 0, 0, 0, 100, 0, True, False )

 

Not only that user layer is turned on but also all the other user layers that where visible before

 

 

 

Is there a DisplayControl Option that will not only turn of the visibility of the section but also turn off the underlying layers.

Hyperlynx 9.0.1 Importing iCES From Xpedition XPCB

Let me start by saying I am new to hyperlynx.

 

I have a board that is fully routed with all the iCES constraints set (Diff pairs, Series..etc).

 

I am using Xpedition XPCB Layout 200 to make a hyp file. ( Analysis->Other Exports-> HyperLynx)

 

I open the .hyp file by opening Hyperlynx then FIle->Open Board->*.hyp

 

The constraint editor rules from the Xpedition are not transferred to the hyp file (or don't seem to be).  I am expected to see the differential pairs automatically assigned.  I was also expecting to see the Parts that are assigned "Series" to reflect in the net assignments.  They are not assigned

 

Am I expecting to much?  Should I have to manually assign the differential pairs and "Series" assignments to the nets?  Is there a way for this to be imported automatically?  Is a tutorial available that explains this?

Query about Die photograph from Pyxis Layout

Initially, I've   made the schematic of the basic functional block in MOS level. Then its layout has been made and simulated properly. It passed all rule checks.

Using this block, the final circuit schematic and its layout have been made. Using the 'peek' option, the inner circuitry of the block has been incorporated into the layout. Then I've done the power routing. So, after the 'routing'(aroute / iroute whatever), 'add text on ports' and 'verification of layout', is there any step left? Is it the last possible step of the PYXIS Layout Editor or there's something else? How can I get the DIE PHOTOGRAPH from Pyxis? If possible, please tell me the procedure.

Start action after Schematic is opened and displayed

Hi all,

I like to start some action after a project is loaded and schematic is initially displayed.

Unfortunately DxDesigner does enter Sub.

Sub Application_AfterDocumentOpened(VDDT_SCHEMATIC)

....[some statements]...

End Sub

What's wrong here? Any suggestions?

I'm sure there is something stupid with my code since I'm newbie on Automation...

 

 

äääh, yes...

I also tried

Sub Application_ProjectChanged(IProjectData)

...[some code]...

End Sub

That is workling well, but the required:

Set docObj = SchematicSheetDocuments.Open(schemStr, sheetStr)

..to open a schematic sheet, crashes DxDesigner. -> DR

So that's no option for me, unfortunately.

Modelsim running error - Fedora 20

Hi guys, i just installed fedora 20 and Quartus II 13.1 with Model Sim Starter Edition.

I downloaded all required packages, but when i try to run modelsim, it shows me this msg:

I read in a ArchLinux forum that maybe it is a problem with an update on freetype package, but i just dont know how to fix it.

Somebody knows what this is?

Bridging copper

I have Expedition EE7.9.4. Is there any feature similar to the copper bridge in PADS as described in this link?

 

Connecting different GND planes together?

 

Our corporate library has some via-based "star grounds" and dummy component net connectors, but these bring the copper down to a small point and are not suitable for keeping traces running over a continuous reference plane.

Single schematic to drive two PCB configurations

Hi,

 

We are planning for two PCB configurations for a same schematic so as to study two different placement strategies.

Is there a way in DxDesigner Expedition flow to allow this happen?

 

Dxdesigner can drive more than one  schematic in a project for multiboard option. But We need to drive two boards with a single schematic such that a change in the schematic will reflect in both the boards.

How to setup a specific design center in a layout template for Valor NPI Integration usage?

In our PCB platform we use pre-defined layout templates which represent technology classes for PCB designs to choose from. We want to implement Valor NPI Integration for the user community. Therefore we are preparing specific design centers per technology class. These are maintained in a central location, together with the Valor NPI environment file.

Since EE7.9.4 the possibility exists to apply such a design center to a design by selecting it in CES. But when doing so I ran into some issues:

1. When selecting a design center in CES (Tools > Valor NPI > Select Design Center…) I noticed that I can only select one from the default client location (SDD_HOME), but no data is available there and also not required. It doesn't respect the variable VALOR_DC_DIR that is set in the environment file. However the option Tools > Valor NPI > Create Design Center does.

2. To prevent the user from selecting the wrong design center (technology class analysis) it's preferred to have the correct design center already defined in the matching layout template. I tried to apply this in the template, but without success.

Is anybody familiar with setup of design centers in CES or a layout template?

Any help with the 2 issues would be appreciated very much.

Hello All.

 

On WindowsXP, when I need to display a file selecting dialog, I use the following object: Set objDialog = CreateObject("UserAccounts.CommonDialog").

On Windows7, this doesn't work.

 

I would like to hear from Windows7 users: what object do they use when they need to display a file selecting dialog?
