Calibre view setup, magnify parameter set to 1 still produces schematics with overlap instances
Schematics produced after running Calibre PEX places instances that overlap. I understand you could modify this by setting the magnify parameter. I have magnify=1 and still getting instance overlap. I'm forced to created arrayed views, but this is not the ideal. Please help.

xPedition xPCB slowing down after some time.
Hello All,
I am running the VX1 release on a system with the following specs;
- Processor : Intel Xeon CPU E5-1607 v3 @3.10GHz
- Memory : 16GB
- System type : 64-bit Windows7
- Graphics Card : AMD FirePro W5100
- memory : 4GB
- OpenGL activated
When I open the design the graphics are as fast as you might expect. But after 1-2 hours of working the graphics has become very slow. The only way to fix this is to save the design
close the software and start over again.
The memory usage on the graphics card is about 350 MB (GPU-Z) and this does not change very much.
Has anyone experienced the same behavior or have any clue what might cause this issue

Jitter measurement of a Delay-Locked Loop
Hi All,
Anyone can guide me as to how to go about measuring the timing Jitter for the output signal of a Delay-Locked Loop circuit using Mentor Graphics software?, the input is a square pulse generated by a pulse generator circuit of 100MHz frequency.

defaualt Visible properties
I'm still new to DxDesigner/DxDatabook/PADs, using version 9.5. How do I make certain properties visible by default when you drop a component on the schematic? When I created the symbol, I placed Device, RefDes, and Value and had them visible. When I drop it on my schematic, only the RefDes is visible. There has to be a better way than to select every component and checking device and value every time I lay down a symbol.

REPORT BUILDER GUIDANCE
So I have finally got my wonderful 2014 updates installed to play around with and have decided to step into the world of report builder something I was highly anticipating.
So the interface is interesting takes a little getting used to has alot of things there. probably 80 precent of it I have no idea what it is or where its used. I talked about this kinda thing when we first got vesys nearly two years ago that there was a need for it. I do have a question though of what kinda of customer testing and feedback occured because I have questions.
First of all we pay alot of money for support for and access to updates. When you do a search for report builder in the help menu you recieve a very limited heres the button you press drag and drop and you wash your hands of it. A 15 min video would go a long way.
A proper break down of each category in a pdf document would be nice. With at least a description of which each major field entails PRetty much its a hunt and peck procedure to find what you want. You don't even have a picture or explain the connector and wire components splices ect options you enable and disable to bring into the chart.
Again i mentioned the 80 percent of things that i have never heard of or used. But you know what i use every day. What page number does that wire or connector appear on. What zone location on the page. Attributes already used in the default wire table chart. Terminal information is also missing in the harness section. Multicore identifiers.
You have the option for user specified attributes.. How do i use these? Will this solve my problem if i know the right code to type in?
{diagram.index} was my page number i used on the borders this doesn't work in these specified fields.
Again i'm glad you guys made the effort but all i really needed was some basic stuff. So let me know what i can do.

ModelSim installation in redhat linux error
I have been trying to install the modelSim SE on my linux OS,
after setting the environment variable like this:
LM_LICENSE_FILE:export LM_LICENSE_FILE=/<my path>/license.dat
Set the path to MoselSim binaries:
export PATH=$PATH:/<my path>/bin
I started ModelSim with this command: vsim
unfortunately I got this message:
Unable to checkout a viewer license necessary for use of the ModelSim graphical user interface. Vsim is closing.

Problem with importing pins from CSV file.
Hi there,
I am having trouble getting the "File -> Import Pins" operation to work in the DxDesigner 9.3.1 Symbol Editor.
I have created a CSV file, attached, but when I do the "File -> Import Pins" operation I don't see the pins in the Pins Window.
I also get this error message in the console
"line 1: column Pin Order not found"
Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Question about turning ON and OFF layer visibility in PADS Layout
In OrCad Layout I remember I could turn off all layers by hitting Backspace, then pressing "1" would bring ONLY the top layer. I loved the fact that after hitting Backspace, I could bring ONLY the layers that I was interested with just a single keystroke per layer. Can I mirror this 1-keystroke-per-layer functionality in PADS Layout?

LVDS 100MHz clock DC wander from oscillator to ASIC on PCB
Hi all,
I am a beginner in signal integrity designs. I am running a Boardsim simulation for (AC coupled with 100nF capacitors) LVDS clock of 100MHz from oscillator to chip on the PCB. Since , the signal is a clock with 50% duty cycle, i am expecting no DC wander on the lvds receiver side. But in hyperlynx simulation , i am getting the following simulation results. What could be the reason for this problem and what is the general technique to solve such issue. Ideally i would like to get 1.25V common mode output at receiver side as Vih is 1.3V and Vil is 1.2V.
I just simulated the net for longer time and i seems that it is stabilizing to 0V dc level with ±400mV at the LVDS receiver side. So, i think this is not DC wander rather it is the initial charging of the AC coupling capacitors which is causing this ramp down of dc level at the receiver.
Zoomed version around 50us when stabilized,
Still, i would like the experts opinion on the topic.

X,Y coordinates of a Cell in GDS
All,
I have a GDS II open in Calibre DesignRev. Now I want to get the x,y coordinates of a particular cell in a die. Also, Is it possible to get x,y coordinates of all the cells or particular type (like AND gates) or to Highlight / Select all the cells of a particular type in complete layout.

Dynamically Populated Userform
Is there a way to add control object to a Userform using VBS? For example, I have a blank form that I would like to populate with control objects such as text or buttons based on the results of some code execution during initialization. I have done something like this in Excel VBA, with the statement Set chkBox = UserFormSelectPlan.Controls.Add("Forms.Label.1", "Label", True). I can't seem to find a VBS equivalent version of this.
Essentially what I'm trying to do is interrogate the design, return a list of changes that could be made, have the user select which changes he/she desires, and apply those changes to the design. My plan was to have that list of changes populated in a form, with check boxes that the users can select. If there is a smarter way of doing this without using forms, please let me know as well.

Graphics card on NTB (which one)
Hello all,
can you please help me to choose the graphics card to my new notebook... not to have a problems with performance, driver..... (or minimum)(best supported)?
1) I can choose the NTB with integrated graphics card on chip (HD4600.....on Intel Core i7-4810MQ) AND AMD FirePro M6100M w/2GB GDDR5
or
2) either integrated HD4600 OR.... AMD Radeon HD 8790M 2G GDDR5
or
3) without integrated graphics card .... NVIDIA Quadro K1100M w/2GB GDDR5 or NVIDIA Quadro K2100M w/2GB GDDR5 or AMD FirePro M5100 w/2GB GDDR5
I would prefer NTB with the option 1 but I'd like to know some experience , known issues, troubles... to better decide.
Can somebody recommend me the the best solution?

Layer Priority in Create PDF
Hi,
I was wondering if there was any way to change the priority of the layers when using the Create PDF tool in PADS Layout. For example, I want to show both my Top Layer and Top Silkscreen overlapped on the same page but when I do this the Top Layer is shown on top of the Silkscreen covering up most of it. Can I make it so that the Top Layer is underneath the Silkscreen?

DXDatabook Live Verify for Hetero parts
Using DxDesigner/DxDatabook/PADs 9.5 -
I'm having troubles with Live Verify just on my Hetero type 2 parts (Two op-amps with 2- and 4-parts each, and symbols with and without power pins)
There are no spaces/tabs/returns in the symbol editor properties or the MS Access database (I don't think Access allows them at the end anyway) per DxDataBook Live Verification Fail
The highlighted amp below was placed directly out of the library, then ran verify and it still fails. I double clicked to bring up the search on the right side, and no matches were present. Even removing all criteria except for Part Number/Device, no matches show up. There are no spaces/tabs/returns in the symbol editor properties or the MS Access database (I don't think Access allows them at the end anyway) per DxDataBook Live Verification Fail
In this particular instance, I have VCC and GND signals identified. The rest of these on my schematic have SIGNALs changed to +VCC and -VCC, but that shouldn't make a difference.
Is this just something that won't verify because of being Hetero symbols?

Header pins messed up after package
Hello everyone
I'm new in mentor and currently I'm facing some issues:
I have created hierarchical design:
My main board is streamer_v1 where i would like to place Block Aptina _Sensor_connector which look like bellow:
I have placed J?-1 from central library then using Array tool i have copied it 14 times because it is this connector pin count
Then i have added pin numbers using Add properties
So pins are with decreasing numeration from top to bottom
Then i have generated block symbol and then placed on the Board schematic:
All verification and checks are passed OK
And now time for package:
when i have pushed from block to schematics i was stoned what could happened:
What could I done wrong or if someone have the same issue

Soldermask opening in vias
Hi,
Currently I am using 2000.5 version of mentor graphics for my old project.
In this one I have defined solder mask for vias. I can see the solder mask in the layout.
I enabled soldermask in the gerber settings too. But I can't see the soldermask opening for the vias in gerber. But I can see soldermask opening for through holes, mounting holes, smd pads.
Has any one deal with this one. Please help me.

Variant Manager Automation Problem EEVX.1
Hello,
I used in EE7.9.5 a script for generating the Variant Schematics PDFs and Partlists.
I changed now as described in the EEVM Automation section to "MGCVARIANTGUI.MGCVariantGUICtrl.2"
But the following code does not work - since following error comes up:
Variable not defined => eVMOperNone.
For each vmCompMod in VmDocObj.ComponentModifications(var.Name)
if vmCompMod.Operation = eVMOperNone then
end if
next
The same code works in EE7.9.5 - whats wrong?
